Golden Age Pioneers: Juan de la Cierva

This video, containing a lot of rare footage, is a short videography of Juan de la Cierva. Cierva was the Spanish inventor of the "autogiro", the aircraft that evolved, and whose name evolved, to become "autogyro". The US aviation agency chose the name "gyroplane" for these kind of aircraft.

A short biography of Cierva and a brief history of the development of gyroplanes can be found in the book
